Spirometry

Spirometry is a common and effective diagnostic test for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma.

The test, which can also be referred to as a lung function test, will tell your doctor if your lungs are functioning normally or not. Good candidates for spirometry testing are people with COPD, asthma, smokers and former smokers.

You will be asked to take a deep breath and breath into a machine for as long as possible. The machine will measure how much air you can blow from your lungs and how fast you can blow it out. The earlier spirometry can be performed, the earlier lung diseases can be detected and treated.
